Fuel Storage Tank Regulation

Programs that establish and enforce compliance with standards for storage tanks containing petroleum or propane that is used to heat homes and businesses, which ensure that they are appropriately secured and that the contents do not escape to contaminate surrounding soil or pollute the air. These programs inspect residential and commercial installations, investigate complaints from the public regarding leakage or other problems and, when warranted, issue citations or warnings which request that the situation be corrected.
